Andy Palmer: Manager of eBay Buyer Experience Exclusive Interview - Page 3
DC: What if we don’t raise enough money?
Palmer: The organizer can cancel the transaction at anytime and again, in two clicks all the money will shoot out to each person. No need to do the math as the system tracks it all.
There is also the option that if something comes up and one person is having a difficulty contributing, the organizer can refund only one person if needed.
DC: Is there a card that we can give to the recipient at the end of the process?
Palmer: After winning and purchasing the gift an eCard is available to either print out or send in an email.
Every time someone makes a contribution they can also leave a message on the eCard. The great thing about the email part of the gift is the recipient can then click on each persons name and send them a quick thank you card in return.
DC: What makes you most excited about Group Gifts?
Palmer: I'm very excited about this because there has been a lot of passion that went into the creation of this platform with many of us getting excited as it launched this month. I'm especially excited about the concept we are offering. A person can may spend a small amount of money to purchase a small gift and now with group gift giving they can spend the same amount of money and are able to be apart of giving a bigger gift!
DC: Have you purchased a Group Gift yet?
Palmer: Yes, I've purchased several! I am a fan of what we built. The most recent one was I grouped up a bunch of my friends and we bought a DVD set as a Birthday gift for one of our mutual friends and he was very excited to get this limited SF Giants, world series history set that we probably would not have bought for him on an individual basis.
Another great thing about group gifts is the fact we can have created this platform where people come together no matter where they live in the world and can participate to help purchase a great gift for someone they care about.
