Supernatural Recap - "Clap Your Hands if You Believe" - Page 3
It reminded me immediately of the old Tex Avery cartoon, The Peachy Cobbler. You can check that out on YouTube if you don't remember it.
Or the Looney Toons version - Yankee Dood It.
I know some people get put off on episodes like this one, where they plant tongue firmly in cheek and make fun of the show, but I absolutely love them. I couldn't stop laughing. Dean almost always has a good one-liner or two in any given episode, but in these, almost every line is a one-liner - it's hilarious!
Plus, the episode is full of all sorts of Easter eggs and nods to various faerie stories in pop culture, especially Disney, so it's fun to try and catch them all.
Of course, this being Supernatural, they had to take a darker twist on faeries. In this case, the watchmaker summons the faeries to help him keep the business going, cure himself of Parkinson's, and they do it, but at a price - taking his firstborn son and then setting up shop to take the firstborn sons of others in the town and basically holding the watchmaker hostage. Sam and Dean learn they have to get a spell book, protected by the faeries, in order to get rid of them.
Great episode, tons of humor. Like everything else on TV, we get a break next week for the holiday, but you can actually watch this episode online at cwtv.com - they seem to run about a week behind, so you may have to give it a couple days to update. (They're still avowing last week's werewolf episode, "All dogs go to heaven.")
