Remembering the Cuban Missile Crisis, Tuesday, October 23, on PBS - Page 2
When one considers events beyond the leaders’ control that could have triggered World War III, the conflicting advice they received, and political pressures, it seems miraculous that war was averted. Cuban Missile Crisis – Three Men Go to War explores the many factors that brought us to the precipice and those that conspired to push us over, while capturing the temper of the times.
The documentary (available on DVD from the PBS on-line shop) offers a look at the three major players and interviews with “key witnesses and experts,” as well as a glimpse of the men in the field who were preparing to fight what could have been the last fight. Participants include Sergei Khrushchev, Ted Sorenson, KGB and CIA operatives, historians, and National Security Archive directors.
