PREVIOUSLY, ON: Lost Has Mommy Issues
On "Across the Sea," the second to last hour of Lost before the final two hours of the Lost Series Finale Event Gala(!), we have a moment where guest star Allison Janney might as well have looked into the camera and winked. Or flipped us off. Either way.
When Mother, played by Janney, is asked by Claudia, a pregnant woman who just washed ashore, how she arrived to the island, she answers, “Same as you. By accident.” This is exactly how I feel as a viewer. We got here, to this point, three years after learning the show was going to end, by accident. Our little island of mystery has turned into this island of...more complicated mystery.
And then, as Claudia asks more questions, Mother cuts her off and says, “Every question I answer will simply lead to another question. You should rest. Just be grateful…”
SLAP! Take THAT, viewers! If Jacob is the reason we are all here and Mother is the reason he is the way he is, it is fair to compare Mother to the writers and creators of the show. And Mother just told you to shut up and go to bed.
And that is my recap of the show. I can’t even begin to put the pieces together in the space and time allotted. It isn’t easy to do and I praise people who can surmise any program when limited to word count.
There might be a reason why there are only a few Lost blogs I actually enjoy reading. I do enjoy being part of the shared experience and seeing if there was anything I myself may have missed. However, it is very difficult to recap a show like this and maintain the readers attention .Continued on the next page
