Victory Garden: Rock From The Heartland
Victory Garden is Michael Finney and a load of other talented musicians over the years. The most recent release "Whats Left Behind" features a 3 piece ensemble with the benefit of studio additions. With production assistance from Mike Regan the record aims to showcase territory the band explored gigging out live the 2 years before its release.
Back in the studio Michael is working with percussionist Luke Kahren to complete a cover of "In the Air Tonight"by Phil Collins at P-Town Studios in Hammond, IN. The song is slated to be available this summer online as a free download.
"Snake Charmer" reminds me of a lot of women that live near me. You know the girls I'm talking about (you can't possibly call them women): gold diggers who are pretty but have no actual substance and aren't really worth a flip in bed. The women that will lie and seduce you-if only for minutes- to reach some sort of objective. It's probably one of the best songs I've heard in a while and it's nice to know that men don't fall for the tricks of women like that and prefer real women.
"Say So Long" is another awesome track. It's about wanting to get away from your daily life and go embark on an awesome adventure. Something all of us can relate to, right?
I was also pretty thrilled to find out that these guys are from northwest Indiana and only an hour or so from where I spent my last few years of high school. They remind me of Silversun Pickups, Modest Mouse, Dashboard Confessional, and other bands I listened to growing up. This is probably why I like them!
