Gran Turismo 5 Ready for Much Anticipated Release
Gamers start your engines! Sony Computer Entertainment confirmed Friday that Gran Turismo 5 will go on sale throughout North America on November 24, 2010.
The popular racing franchise is regarded as the best and most authentic driving simulator ever created due to its realistic graphics, life-like technology and design. Along with providing a superior driving experience, Gran Turismo serves as an exclusive means for automotive manufacturers to market their products.
Revered on the gaming scene, the last installment, Gran Turismo 4, received an 89.41% ranking from GameRankings.com when it was released in 2005. Fans of the game were forced to wait patiently to get behind the wheel again. Several other dates for the new game came and went before the company confirmed this recent release.
"When we created the original Gran Turismo in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre,” said Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc. in Japan. On the delayed release of the game, Yamauchi said, “I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."
In Gran Turismo 5, gamers can take on the world's most known racetracks and test their driving skills in some of the most famous racing cars, including the Lamborghini Murcielago, the Lexus LFA and the McLaren.
With more than 56 million units shipped worldwide, the Gran Turismo franchise is for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, PlayStation 3 and PSP (PlayStation Portable) consoles.
