Viral Video: Another Back to The Future Movie in the Works?
A video on YouTube has been making the rounds recently, making many believe that another Back To The Future movie might be in the works.
The 44-second short features Christopher Lloyd, who reprises his role as Doc Brown replete with white lab suit and goggles, driving his signature DeLorean into a store front in Argentina. Lloyd steps out of the video, and immediately asks what year it is, inquiring about a piece of technology the videographer is holding - presumably a cameraphone.
Nobody at this point knows for sure why the “found video” is out there. Another video hints at an Argentinian commercial; however that does not entirely make sense as Lloyd’s role is spoken in English. It would also be an unprecendented HD commercial bringing a veteran actor and let’s not forget the re-use of the DeLorean. Borrowing the Back To The Future plotline, car, costume and character all require permission from those who own the rights - likely not an easy feat.
Here's a second video that says it's a commercial, but does not reveal for what.
Even if the expenses were covered for a simple commercial, the production rights could have been given in order to see just how much virality releasing the commercial online would create, in order to float the idea of yet another movie in the Back To The Future franchise.
What do you think? Was this just a commercial for Argentina, drawing together a memorable actor and iconic prop? Or do you think there might be ulterior motives for the accidental release of the now-viral video?
