At the Cinema in 2010
It's now the official start of the new year. With that comes a load of movies to look forward to. So lets kick off 2010 by looking at some of the big titles planned for the next calendar year.
If you have been to the cinema recently you will probably have seen trailers for Legion. Prepare to expect killer grandmothers in this film when God loses faith in mankind and sends his legion of angels to start the apocalypse.
Sticking with horror we can expect to see re-makes of classics such as Wolfman and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Michael Bay plans to bring back the horror of Freddy Krueger to a fresh generation.
Vampires are back on our screens this time fighting humans for control of the earth in the epic Daybreakers, keeping the evil vampire genre alive. With the Saw series still making money, Lionsgate brings us the seventh film, Saw VII, to keep shocking audiences with deathly contraptions.
Also arriving this year is Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland starring, surprisingly, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, in 3D. We can all get excited for Piranha 3D expected to hit the screens this summer and Shrek Forever After, the fourth installment of the Shrek films, also to be shown in 3D. Toy Story 3 joins the crowd as this long awaited film is to join the torrent of 3D films out this year. Yogi Bear is also predicted to be converting to 3D this coming December.
Fantasy films stay strong with the next installments of Narnia and Harry Potter. However the final Potter book is to be split up into two parts, with only the first part being released this year. Girls get screaming for the third film in the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. I'm sure we can all expect some more unnecessary topless action from the writers converting the book into a girl screaming sensation.Continued on the next page
