"Taxi" Star, Jeff Conaway Dies at 60
Actor Jeff Conaway, best known for his role as Bobby Wheeler in the classic sitcom “Taxi”, has passed away at the age of 60.
Conaway had a long battle with drug addiction while still maintaining a successful career as a television actor. In the early 90’s, Conaway struck pay dirt on television again, this time with a supporting role on the hit science fiction series “Babylon 5.”
Over the last three decades, Conaway has led a turbulent personal life with his on again, off again battle with an addiction to prescription drugs. On May 21, he suffered an overdose and slipped into a coma.
Jeff Conaway rose to fame with his role Kenicke in “Grease.” Prior, he landed guest roles on the hit television sitcoms “Mary Tyler Moore” and “Happy Days.” The episode of the 1950's based sitcom in which he guest starred probably lent a hand in landing him the role in “Grease.”
Most recently, Jeff Conaway could be seen on the reality show “Celebrity Rehab.” In addition, Conaway has been doing voice work.
Jeff Conaway was a good actor whose personal battles shielded him from achieving greater successes in television and film. It is unfortunate that he gave in to his own personal demons.
