Swedish Invasion... Joel Kinnaman & Alexander Skarsgård Front Fashion
Swedish actors are taking over the world one ad campaign at a time... First, we have the Swedish-American actor Joel Kinnaman, who tries to stay close to home by tapping a major modeling gig as the face of men’s fall line of the Swedish giant H&M. And on the other hand, fellow actor Alexander Skarsgård steam things up while trying to reach the sensuous - and Calvin Klein fetish girl - Lara Stone, in a hot new spot to introduce Encounter Calvin Klein, a new fragrance for men.
Alexander Skarsgård is already a household name in Hollywood thanks to his steamy role in True Blood and films such as Melancholia and Battleship. But Joel Kinnaman is practically a new comer in America that has generated a lot of buzz for his breakthrough performance in the US remake of “The Killing”, but mostly for landing the lead in the remake of “RoboCop”.
Calvin Klein keeps it in the - very international - family... working with dutch model Lara Stone and french director Fabien Baron, regulars in the Calvin Klein imagery. And H&M keeps it very local, as the Swedish actor will appear in a fall campaign filmed by - the also Swedish - famed video director Jonas Åkerlund. In the campaign, Joel wears a series of key pieces from H&M’s fall collection, including a green varsity jacket layered over a navy crewneck and denim shirt. The collection also features cardigans, corduroy pants, an updated version of the classic slim overcoat in navy, and a gray single-breasted suit. The commercial will be available for viewing in its entirety on hm.com beginning October 5, with edited versions used as a TV campaign.
“H&M makes it easy for a guy to look great every single day and create a personal style. Their men’s collection always gives me a choice of how I want to dress, whether it be sharp in a suit and polo-neck, or more relaxed in jeans and a tweed jacket. That’s why I’m so happy to be the face of H&M this season,” Joel Kinnaman told H&M.
The H&M commercial will premiere on the brand’s Web site hm.com on Oct. 5, with edited versions going out on television.
H&M confirmed last month that it had tapped Lana Del Rey as the face of its women’s fall ads while David Beckham continues with his Bodywear line, an exclusive and long-term collaboration with H&M that has become an instant global success following its launch in February 2012.
