As far as all those comparisons to the late Princess of Wales, all I can say to that is, I will never forget being a teenage girl watching Diana hop in and out of Red Cross jeeps, wiping the sweat off her hands on her pants so that she could shake hands with war refugees, walking through minefields, and comforting people in really horrendous circumstances all over the world.
From being one of the earliest AIDS activists, to fighting alongside Hillary Clinton on behalf of children, despite some of her personal transgressions, even Di's sharpest critics will admit that she was a hard working humanitarian. It is the reason why I think young women like me who grew up in the 90's looking up to women like Hillary Clinton, and my state's then governor Ann Richards, could also look up to the late Princess Diana. I first learned about places like Angola because of her. When the Duchess of Cambridge starts to tackle important issues and becomes a tireless advocate for the causes that she cares about, I'll hear those comparisons, but right now, those comparisons fall very flat .

Here in the states, the British Royal Family are celebrities only, they have no official role of any kind, and therefore we could care less how many times they reveal their "Full Monty" stricken world. Perhaps the British people should though, and hold their first family to a higher standard.
And perhaps we should all ask ourselves why we have lifted this woman up as such a role model, and are obsessed with her celebrity status to the point of the media bombarding a hospital and pranksters calling her hospital floor when she is ill. My heart goes out to the family of the hospital nurse who so tragically look her life, and hope it will teach us some lessons about how far is too far both concerning invasion of privacy, and also obnoxious jokes at the expense of people who are just trying to do their jobs.Continued on the next page
