Danny Pudi: In the Security Line At The Airport - Page 2
Abed has described himself as being like Data (portrayed masterfully by Brent Spiner in Star Trek: The Next Generation).
“Yeah, in some ways – I think he’s a little more human, he’s also half Palestinian and half Polish – so he’s a new school Data. Data for the modern man.” He laughed.
I made sure not to be sipping coffee at that moment for fear of making another mess – Danny made a very good point about characters like Data in the world of television – “There have always been these types of characters in many shows, whether it’s like R2D2, or C3PO, or Data; these are characters that kind of help us look at our human behavior and tendencies to question them to see how silly we sometimes are.”
It’s kind of like these characters were written to hold a mirror to us and say – “This is you.”
“When I look in a mirror, I’m usually frightened – literally.”
Danny and I also discussed a unique campaign that he’s doing for Speed Stick called “#Handle It.”
“We’re actually looking for people to tweet any funny or awkward stories to Speed Stick. What we’re going to do is take a funny story that one of these guys tweets and make it into an ad that I’ll narrate. A funny example of a story that we got was a guy and a woman in an elevator, she laid her head on his chest, so he felt awkward and yelled ‘I’m engaged!’ Another story was a guy who tweeted that he was de-pantsed in front of his wife’s mother. It’s a really fun campaign; I’m always into awkward situations probably because they happen to me a lot.”
The stories will be brought to life in a YouTube video that Danny will narrate.
So, by now – if I were you and I were reading this article – I’d be thinking a couple things.Continued on the next page
