Home Affordable Program Under Attack Once Again! Will it Be the End?
As I do every day I search the internet for relative information in reference to anything to do with foreclosures, short sales and loan modifications. Just last week I read an article about how the government’s HAMP program hasn’t been a complete waste and that it has helped over 500,000 homeowners in lowering mortgage payments and staying in their homes.
Now this week it’s a different story, according to an article posted online at Bloomberg.com, three US congressmen call for the HAMP program to end. They are of course all Republicans, Representatives Jim Jordan of Ohio, Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, and Darrel Issa of California have proposed a bill to call an end to the program.
Darrel Issa is the chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and introduced the bill at the committee’s first hearing a week ago. Neil Barofsky was also present to give his report and opinion about the HAMP program. He stated the program has grossly failed and “has had the most devastating consequences.” However, he stated the program should be reviewed and updated and so will this be the end of the Home Affordable program?
I guess we can only wait and see, but in the end someone needs to be blamed for the housing crises and why not the President and his government assistance program. After all politicians may claim they do things to help the country, but do you really believe that?
Granted the government Home Affordable program has fallen short of the projections, but after all it is a government program. What did you expect? Can you say less RED TAPE PLEASE!
Is it our goal as human beings to make things much harder than they really are?Continued on the next page
