Attorneys and law firms are not always considered cutting-edge marketers, especially since historically most firms have gotten the majority of their business though referrals.

But due to the economic downturn of the last few years, some firms saw their first ever dip in revenue and are starting to think more seriously about how they market their services. Add to that the incredible technology expansion of the last few years, including huge leaps in the usage of mobile devices and expanded capabilities of Websites. Throw in the incredible proliferation of social media, and most firms are quickly realizing that strategic marketing is important if they are going to stay on top of their profession and ahead of their competition.

With this in mind, the Legal Marketing Association is holding their annual conference on April 4-6, 2011 at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Resort in Orlando, Florida. This is the largest educational and networking event for legal marketing and business development professionals in the US.

The programming for this event is as diverse as the over 1000 people expected to attend. The event will kick off with a keynote speech on Disney’s Approach to Business Excellence, where attendees will learn how to apply the excellence-focused strategies that have propelled Disney to the leadership position it holds today in their own firms.

Then, with four tracks of breakout sessions – Driving Growth and Profitability, Maximizing Client Retention and Value, Improving Visibility, and Honing your Leadership Skills – attendees can find everything they need to expand their skills and knowledge. There will also be CMO roundtables, networking opportunities and a chance for legal marketers to learn from each other. All of these programs and activities are designed to encourage maximum attendee participation and interaction.

In addition to the conference, there will be a simultaneous exposition with nearly 50 exhibitors that provide valuable services to the legal marketing industry on hand to share more about their companies.
