Comments, which is a common feature available in most of the social media is a great innovation since it does not limits participants answer as questions does. It gives the entire idea of the consumer that can be sorted out later. Twitter and YouTube are also an expected great source that will be facilitating more features in near future.
Two most highlighted drawbacks are lack of motivation for participation and less effectiveness over face to face interviewing. Whenever a poll or a question is published, only the product interested people take part. Therefore results can be biased sometimes. Also the available functionality of social media do not provide the facility to gain a widen answer for a question. The results can be less accurate.
If we are able to overcome through these drawbacks to a considerable extend, then social networks will be an effective and efficient source for Market Research.
