My great friend (and TalkLeft contributor) Anita Thompson, who like me, used to be a fierce Hillary supporter, has written John McCain a Dear John letter on her Owl Farm Blog. Dear John McCain, This is a sincere Thank You note for being the man to put my heart, soul, time and money back into politics. …

Last week on the day the Dow had its astounding 770 point loss, I asked how much can you afford to lose? I mentioned: I don't have any investments, but my mother has a modest amount that is used to pay for her nursing home care. ... Today, she lost $15,000.00. …

Five Days After Bailout, Economy and McCain Are Tanking

    http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/10/7/193747/526

now and November 4, it would be too late to help John McCain. If he tried to take credit, he'd be a laughing stock -- it would be as phony as his claim he was suspending his campaign because Washington needed him to help with the bailout bill. McCain wants to cut medicare and medicaid benefits, tax health care benefits and privatize social security. There are millions and millions of Americans (like my mother and and people my age whose parents desperately need those benefits) who won't stand for it.

Biden that was not there before. Thank you again, you beautiful little man. Most Sincerely, Anita Thompson What a great letter from a terrific woman and I'll bet there are millions more out there who feel the same. I know I do. To go from here to here in six weeks shows you just how much John McCain misjudged us.

    Believing The Worst In NBC

That information makes the apolitical theory about the pulled video sound plausible. But NBC's silence is fueling complaints of liberal bias because the network already is widely perceived as being in the tank for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. Here's a sampling of comments on NBC's Web site: "Where's the bailout video? Did it hit home too hard? Your Masters said CENSOR it, so you rushed to comply. Chickens!

government of Iran to sponsor his anti-American harangue. Yes. That Iran. But Vogler never got the chance to speak before the U.N. He was murdered by a fellow secessionist. I'm sure this is getting lots of play in the corporate media. Who have been so rough on regular gal Palin. Imagine the uproar if Michelle Obama was revealed to have joined a black nationalist party whose founder preached armed secession from the United States and who enlisted the government of Iran in his cause? The Obama campaign

Federal Judge Orders Release of Uighur Detainees Into U.S.

    http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/10/7/132558/469

On Sunday I wrote a long post on the plight of the Uighur Chinese Muslim detainees at Guantanamo and the court hearing that would be held today. The Center for Constitutional Rights and the ACLU reports (link will be available here) the Judge did in fact order their release into the U.S.

The pro-Obama fanatics will become anti-Obama fanatics. Take The Progressive Pledge (by Big Tent Democrat at TalkLeft) Digby points to the part of the progressive blogosphere I want to be a part of: “[O]nline progressives are organizing around this concept: ‘Anyone with common sense will vote for Barack Obama and Democratic
