Pulling off the Pull-Ups. For good.
http://sassafrass.typepad.com/sassafrass/2008/06/pulling-off-the.htmlPotty training Lil E -- or my grandiose attempts to turn it into a fabulous and enticing party -- taught me a valuable and frustrating lesson: Let the kid go in his own time. That means go and go. By some miracle of evolution or genetics, he did not inherit the peanut bladder both his parents have …

This is not a shoe blog: Because in order to stop talking about knockers, I need to talk about shoes
http://sassafrass.typepad.com/sassafrass/2008/06/this-is-not-a-s.htmlThe rain clouds have cleared and the sun is calling me away from my laptop. Or at least, away from my work on the laptop. It's Friday, so that means a happy hour of shoe perusal will light me up more than a pom mojito and hefeweizen chaser. …

The TRUE foodmomiac is revealed (ENFP/32A)
http://www.foodmomiac.com/foodmomiac/2008/06/the-true-foodmo...a bit). But, I have also received emails praising my choice of photo, so... Anyway, THIS photo was taken at a fabulous lingerie shop on Monday morning. That's me on the left and Lisa on the right. We were also joined by the super-fabulous Jeannie and Jess. Now, I've been fitted for a bra before. Two times, to be exact. Both times were at the Town Shop in New York, and at one point I think I even decided that I'd never buy a bra anywhere else. Well, deciding something like that is kind of stupid, because

Flooded Lizard Kingdom
http://www.lizardkingdom.org. If Boy Detective becomes a cheerleader, I am totally screwed. Vegetarian myths, debunked. I really, really don't understand how the last two paragraphs made it through the editing process, but until then it's wildly entertaining. Guess what? Grrrl power isn't hurting our boys. So what is? The first few lines are a bit confusing, but this warms my heart. Explaining Michael Jackson. And no, not in that funny way.

Strollerderby
http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/default.aspxA recent study debunks the myth that all the progress made by girls in the past 20-30 years has come at the expense of boys. But some parents of boys still have worries... Read More...

My funny, small and frosted Valentine

And sure, he melted down in a big pile of snow when I shoveled the part of the sidewalk that is apparently designated as a preschooler-only on-duty area. Yes, he is still getting me with that "My body's telling me I really really really have to go potty" trick as soon as his head hits the pillow, no matter how many times he's already gone in the last hour or how often I've reminded him he will not go once stories and snuggles are

My funny, small and frosted Valentine

Oh the snow
http://svmomblog.typepad.com/chicago_moms/2008/02/oh-the-sno...and last night, in my clicky clicky boots and good ass jeans. I've run outside for a few solid scoops and labored over the stubborn ice under a few inches of the soft stuff. And really, I don't mind it. I've been talking and talking and talking about flexing my single mama skills in the snow, but I actually like it. It feels (dare I say this?) good to work so hard that I feel sweaty and chilled at the same time. I like the tangible accomplishment, of seeing exactly what work I've done (except in the places Lil E has un-shoveled

Oh the snow
http://svmomblog.typepad.com/chicago_moms/2008/02/oh-the-sno...over the busy city street where we live. I love that the snow, when it is wet enough, coats the trees and bushes so that every detail of every branch is beautiful and revealed. I like to work out my frustrations and anger shoveling, to think and breathe and meditate shoveling, to center on clearing the path before me, one swift move at a time. All this said, I am ready for spring. Ready for the metaphors and warm wind and budding flowers that come with the change in weather. But since that part of the world
