    Robot Rock

Sorry kittens, that last gap ended up being a lot longer than I intended. Moving is a real pain. We need to come up with some cheap teleportation technology before I have to do it again. We've got three months or so. Get to it, scientists. Oh, and get on those flying cars while you're at it (Ironically, the word "teleportation" was unrecognized by the spellcheck...guess we've got a ways to go). Well, it isn't a car, but it is a dude flying over the alps on rocket propelled wings. And if that isn't just damned exciting, well, I don't know what is. G.I. Joe toys coming to life. In further military news, I found this to be a suitably scary sci-fi novel becoming reality. It isn't exactly a new suggestion or anything, just seeing it slapped down in print made me tingle a little. Our current age is sitting right on the cusp of making all sorts of interesting and world changing technological leaps that are seriously exciting and startlingly surreal. So much of it just sounds like delicious tidbits for sci-fi goodness. It makes the potential writer in me quiver with delight. Especially things like this...? So...uh...I bet this smelled DELICIOUS. A few weeks ago I watched the Deadliest Catch for the first time (which was surprisingly cool, I might add, though I shouldn't have been surprised, the Discovery Channel is friggin' awesome) and, while the show was interesting, I couldn't help but feel sort of weird about all those crabs. I mean, they haul in like 14 million pounds of crab each year. Now, when you think about that number having to last the whole world, it isn't that big...but that's a lot of crab. I know that it's very strictly managed so you can only catch them of a certain size, only so much a year, etc. so the species isn't going to go extinct, it just sort of boggles my mind. And here, 60,000 lbs of lobster meat just burned up. I don't know. Waste on such a vast scale, it just makes me worry a little. The ravenous maw of the human race is frightening sometimes. The fact that we can fish animals to extinction...it's just crazy. This is...well it's just hilarious. Watching the music industry flounder and come to grips with the Internet is comedy gold. Watching the artists trump them on it is even better. Alright, I've got to dash now. Sorry, the post isn't what I'd hoped it'd be, but I got interrupted earlier this week so that my job situation could get flushed completely down the toilet. Sort of distracted me a bit. And now, my damnable interwebs are about as reliable as war reports from Iraq. CURSES! In conclusion, I leave you with my opinion about politics right now...

Reader Tom Sheridan doesn't seem to be all that impressed with the pending prospects of Personal Air Vehicles (aka, "flying cars"). He claims to prefer a more, ah, adventurous mode of transportation... Either way, the space just above our heads promises to get pretty busy in the decades ahead.

Everyday we spend a small bit of time getting up to date on the happenings of our little world and especially in the business and tech world. We have seen a lot of things but you need to check this out! As you probably know, Iron Man has been KICKING some serious butt at the box office in the last week or so (great movie in our opinion) and we were wondering if the comic/movie version of Iron Man has giving some ideas to people. What kind of ideas you ask? Well, to fly of course! Think we are crazy… well check out Yves Rossy! This guy made his first public flight over the Swiss Alps on May 14th 2008 while being strapped to his self-made jet powered wings. This is what Mr. Rossy did – he hopped into a Pilatus Porter aircraft and waited until it rose to around 7,500 feet. Then he jumped out of the plane and unfolded his 8-foot wings that we're strapped to his back. After he jumped out of the plane he allowed himself to gently glide across the sky as a crowd of people watched below. He then triggered his four jet turbines and quickly accelerated to almost 200 mph while the crowd below him quickly gasped then began cheering loudly. Yves Rossy allowed himself to sore above the Rhone valley as he sometimes rose 2,600 feet into the air and with one last pass he waved to the crowd below and simply tipped his wings, flipped to his back and leveled out again as he executed an amazing 360 (that he never tried before), he then deployed his parachute and safely hit the ground. OK, so it is not exactly the same as Iron Man.. but you got to admit, that was pretty cool! Check out the video of the whole event at… http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/05/14/photos.rocketman/index.html So our question to you… would you jump out of a plane with a jet pack strapped to your butt? I've been tagged...

    http://elisasbits.blogspot.com/2008/05/ive-been-tagged.html

Recently I have been tagged by two sweet ladies, Kris and Sue, it's just been so busy here lately that I haven't found the time to answer the tag calls - plus I'm sorry to say that I'd probably make No. 1 on the list of 'The Anti Tagger'... ;) However, I'll make an exception because of these two lovely bloggers and here are some unimportant facts about me: 1. May has to be one of my favorite months of the year (right followed by September) 2. I'm just listening to the news in the background, a report about early retirement, doesn't that just sound like one of the best inventions in the working world, and can we start that for everyone over 40 without any losses to income and benefits? 3. Have you all seen the video of the Swiss 'Rocket Man' I wouldn't do it if I'd be paid for it...! 4. I have more photos in a big box that I need to scrap with, sort, organize, than vice versa. 5. Sundays are a wonderful day for designing, so I need to keep it short... 6. I'll have some GREAT news SOON, keep checking the blog! :) 7. I'm the Anti-Tagger but discretely tag these great bloggers (check out these links and enjoy your visit!): Maria Scrapcat Craftythisandthat You all have a wonderful Sunday! :)
