Technorati People
-
Adriaan Tijsseling
Consultant
Formerly a Cognitive Scientist, Adriaan now spends most of his time writing popular Mac OS X applications (e.g. "ecto"), hacking API interfaces, and enforcing utf-8. Adriaan lives in Japan with his charming wife, a cute daughter, and a mental goldfish.
-
Dorion Carroll
Vice President of Engineering
Over the past 15 years, Dorion has designed and maintained numerous large scale, high availability systems and databases for big companies. His work at Technorati is focused on developing reliable data systems that can scale to meet the demands of tens of millions of writes per day, represent up-to-the-minute changes in the blogosphere, support arbitrary queries and searches, all while coping with a data retention policy of "never delete anything."
-
Ian Kallen
Architect
Ian has been working with internet technologies for over 15 years. Prior to joining Technorati, he was innovating scalable application and infrastructure technologies at Covalent Technologies, Salon.com, Gamespot.com and The WeLL. Ian contributed to "Teach Yourself Apache 2 in 24 Hours," Techweb's DeveloperPipeline, and others. He was a web technology instructor at SFSU's Multimedia Studies Program.
-
Janice Myint
Customer Support
Janice has a Masters of Engineering from Cornell University. She brings with her a great deal of experience working with customers and a commitment to uphold Technorati's mantra: "Be of Service". A transplant from Virginia, she lives in San Francisco, co-owns an urban art gallery and retail store in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco, and, as a second degree black belt, practices Taekwondo in her spare time.
-
Jeff Sinclair
Ad Operations Manager/Account Manager
Jeff comes to Technorati with over seven years experience in online ad operations, including search marketing and display advertising. Prior to entering the world of online media, he worked for the Federal Government at both the FDIC and the US Department of Education. Needless to say, he prefers tracking ad campaign performance over tracking down defaulted student loan borrowers. In his spare time, he sings lower first tenor in the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus and makes marginally successful appearances on syndicated game shows.
-
John Winkenbach
Director of Finance and Administration
John has over 10 years of finance and accounting experience. After graduating from Santa Clara University, John started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. After PwC, he worked for Inktomi and most recently Yahoo!. Interests outside of work include golf, San Francisco restaurants, and following Bay Area sports. He is an avid Raiders fan and has been a season ticket holder since the team moved back to Oakland in 1995 (and no he does not dress up in costume for home games).
-
Jorge Barrios
Engineer
Jorge has worked in software development for a number of years, including senior software engineering positions at The Content Group and Emotion (Cinebase). He has special interests in social software and content management, and a special weakness for the startup environment. When not working, he enjoys gaming, photography, biking, and hanging out with his family.
-
Josh Smith
Senior Systems Administrator
Josh joined Technorati in 2005 after 4 years putting out fires somewhere else. He could be a programmer pretending to be an admin or an admin pretending to be a programmer, depending on which day of the week it is. He specializes in troubleshooting and automation. Most of his time is spent as a magical engine that converts caffeine into keystrokes, but in his spare time he enjoys urban decay and producing music (poorly).
-
Matthew Levine
Hypertext Craftsman
Originally from Southern California, Matthew studied physics and philosophy at Dartmouth before teaching elementary school in South Louisiana. In recent years he has been making the web a better place through his consulting company Infocraft. He now spends his days at Technorati crafting sublimely structured HTML and practicing the dark art of CSS. When he manages to pull himself away from his laptop, he can often be found in the dance halls of the Bay Area attempting to jitterbug or lounging on the beaches of various foreign countries.
-
Peter Hirshberg
Chairman
Peter Hirshberg is an entrepreneur and marketing innovator who has led emerging media and technology companies at the center of disruptive change for more than 20 years. He is a Trustee of The Computer History Museum and a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute. Peter earned his bachelor's degree at Dartmouth College and his MBA at Wharton.
-
Richard Jalichandra
President & Chief Executive Officer
Richard is a veteran Internet executive whose media experience includes leadership roles across the media spectrum: as a client, at an agency, as a publisher, and with an advertising network. He has a B.S. in business administration from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from the University of Washington.
-
Robert Arriaga
Director of Product Development
Originally from the East Bay, Robert migrated east to the deserts of Arizona for his formative years only to reemerge as a college student at the University of San Francisco. Escaping with a Degree in International Marketing, he then decided to ditch his degree entirely and pick up the pen (err, keyboard) and hole up at the SF Weekly for a 4 year stint as a music critic and night clubs editor (yes, getting paid to see shows and drink). He soon fell for that shiniest of objects – the rise of web 1.0 – and traded his soul for a life of a web developer at Ask.com. He spent the next 7 years moving from ASP to Java, only to find his true love: syndicating bits of information via XML. Now he can be found in the halls of Technorati, looking for new product ideas under couch cushions and herding them toward fruition or foraging in the fridge for another fizzy water.
-
Scamper Robinson
The Pixel Whisperer
Scamper festoons world wide web pages with pictures, words, and sundry dots. He designed this sentence, in fact. What, you think it just wrote itself?
In times past he worked as a custodian, a spook, and as a 3D talking penguin. When he's not writing florid but disarming mini-bios for himself, he spends his free time—if you can call it that—writing fiction, composing music, and hiding.
Among his current favorite words: beak, pontoon, pants, thunder, monkey, bubble, bucket.
